What Is Microcement?
Microcement is a thin polymer-modified cement coating applied by hand in several layers, usually 2-3 mm total. It bonds to most rigid substrates and creates a continuous surface with no grout lines. It is popular for bathrooms, showers, kitchens, floors and feature walls in Toronto condos and renovated homes.
Microcement vs Tile
| Tile | Microcement | |
|---|---|---|
| Joints | Grout lines | Seamless |
| Cleaning | Grout stains | Wipe clean |
| Look | Pattern | Continuous, soft texture |
| Over existing tile | Remove usually | Often possible |

Doing Wet Areas Right
Waterproofing first
In showers, the finish is only as good as what is under it. We install wet area waterproofing, embed fiberglass mesh in primer and seal the finished surface with polyurethane sealer in multiple coats.
For commercial floors, see polished concrete. For exterior finishes, see stucco.
Microcement is a specialty finish offered by our Toronto masonry team, applied by the same crews that handle our stucco and concrete work.
